About Our Name

Our name was chosen on the basis of a passage in Acts 17:10-11. In that passage the Jews in a town called Berea heard the Apostle Paul speak in their synagogue. The Bible praises these Jews because they both received Paul's message with a "readiness of mind" and also "searched the Scriptures" to see if they were consistent with what Paul was preaching.

We choose to be named after these folks of old because we have a desire to let God's Word, the Bible, be our final authority for our beliefs. Likewise, we choose to let the word "Bible" define our church doctrinal position, as opposed to defining it by identification with a denominational group.
