Our Story
Berean Bible Church was begun in 1992 by a group of believers who initially intended to start a church in Virgil. Although they first met as a Bible study in a home there, they eventually began meeting in the old Cortlandville Fire Station near the A&W Restaurant. God enabled that group to purchase land in South Cortland, and the present building was built in 1995.
In 1996 Bruce Buchanan was called as pastor, and he and his family moved to Cortland from the Lansdale, PA, area. Berean Bible Church continues to meet in its original building while the surrounding area has grown up around it. Walmart, Empire Tractor and the Finger Lakes Business Park have all recently been built within a half mile of our building.
Berean continues its ministry in South Cortland to the greater Cortland community.
